More Fall Fun

Collecting stuff on a nature walk.
Sensory tubs are all over the mommy blog world but I first learned about them from my friend Mari-Ann on her blog Counting Coconuts. A yellow themed corn sensory tub was my first attempt and it was a hit. Anders asks to play corn daily.  What I must have missed when reading about sensory tubs is they are VERY messy.  But totally worth it! Nothing wrong with learning about clean up too.
We had our first attempt at cookie baking when Anders was 18 months. As you can see it was a bit of a fail. I thought at this age he would not have the patience to measure out and mix ingredients so I went with cheaters. In retrospect I think he would have enjoyed dumping ingredients more. These looked so much like cookies he couldn't understand why he couldn't have one right away.

Lefse 101

We decided it was time for the next generation to learn to make lefse so Julie held Lefse Making 101 to pass down what Grandma Angie had taught her.
Four generations of lefse makers.
The little girls had fun making lefse too, Anders used that time to get a turn with the babies.
However, he was impressed that lefse making involves a stick.

Field Trip

A farm in our town opens its doors in April and October so kids can see what happens on a real working animal farm.  Anders LOVES farm animals and machinery right now so we jumped at the chance to see them action.  We saw chickens lay eggs, chased some ducks, pet some kittens and bunnies, fed cows and horses, smelled some pigs, saw bees make honey, milked a goat and rode behind a tractor.

Pine Tree

Every year we visit Pine Tree Apple Orchard to celebrate Grandpa Al's birthday. We hope the kids will feel a connection to Grandpa Al if we introduce them to things he liked. Like pie :)
Anders refused to wear his hat but was more than happy to wear Daddy's hat.
He went to the pumpkin patch and picked out a rock.  Grandpa Al would be proud!
This girl cracks me up!
