The Cabin Anders' Style

If it were up to Anders we would spend the majority of cabin time in the game room playing "ping dong," Foosball and pool.
Or at the beach building destroying sand castles.
On a kayak with Daddy.
There would be time to follow in his cousins footsteps or at least play with their toys.
He would squeeze in a game of Beach Volleyball. (Finally a sport Mama enjoys!)
He would eat nothing but suckers and marshmallows.
And of course, there would have to be a Happy Birthday party thrown in to make the cabin week perfect.

Fishing at the Cabin

Every year we are giddy with excitement about spending a week at the cabin. We can't actually check in until late in the afternoon but there is no way we can sit at home, so we take our time getting there. A stop at the bait shop.
Then Cloquet for our annual Anders the Viking picture.
Anders is already loving a week of constant attention!
Finally after lunch at The Sawmill and quickly unpacking, we are on the boat with our poles in trying to get the first keeper. Sorry Hannah, I don't think you will win but I'm impressed you are willing to touch a fish before your brothers.
That's more like it!
This year Anders even tried fishing.
He may not have caught anything but he sure had fun casting.
Sometimes there is a line up for Grandpa to unhook some pretty pathetic fish.

Out of Control

Wow, this summer has totally gotten away from me so the rest of the posts won't be in order. Which probably only matters to me and possibly other type A members of my family.  So starting with the most important event of the summer......
The birth of my nephew, Reuben Alan!!
So if you want to find me the rest of this summer I will most likely be hanging out with these sweet cousins, who happen to be modeling some of Uncle Jeff's clothes.  And yes, we gave Grandma Jane a hard time about saving the outfit Anders is wearing.

The Dells

My nephew Zach once told me I couldn't call it Wisconsin Dells, it is just The Dells.  So, we broke up the drive to Michigan with a trip to The Dells.  It was fun!
We were able to get in one last water park before we had to check out. When we asked Anders how he would like to spend his last swim, this is what he chose. Pool steps with a basketball. Typical!

Genetics

The trip to Michigan and back is 24 hours.  I was totally prepared.  I spent hours scouring Mommy Blogs and had bags of fun surprises and activities packed to make the trip go smoothly.
It started out great. My two year old who doesn't like to miss out on a second of anything and never sleeps in the car even slept for a whole 30 minutes.  Look I even got proof. I kid you not that was all he slept the entire trip.
It was about six hours into the trip that I found out Anders inherited my motion sickness gene.  Sorry Buddy!  Let's just say, by the end of the trip Brian and I were like a NASCAR pit crew. Fortunately, after each episode, Anders felt great and had lots of fun at our pit stops while we cleaned the car.
Anders was a trooper.  It turns out he can't watch movies, color, read or even play with toys so he had to spend the trip talking, singing or listening to the radio.  We played hours of "what else did we do..." Despite this he was happy most of the trip.
We made it!!!
